LAKE STEVENS – Investigators hope to be able to get inside what’s left of a Dairy Queen that was destroyed by fire early this morning.
Fire crews this morning continued to extinguish hot spots inside the building, almost nine hours after the fire was reported, Lake Stevens Deputy Fire Chief Dave Lingenfelter said.
Firefighters arrived at the restaurant around midnight and found it engulfed in flames. A crew entered the building in an attempt to extinguish the blaze, but the fire raged out of control and the crew was ordered out of the restaurant, Lingenfelter said. The roof collapsed. Firefighters battled the fire from outside to keep it from spreading to other structures.
No one was injured. The restaurant, located near Frontier Village, had been closed for several hours before the fire was reported.
It’s unclear where the fire was started or why. The fire likely was burning for some time before firefighters were called, Lingenfelter said.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office and Lake Stevens police are investigating.
