SNOHOMISH — An accidental fire destroyed an apartment unit Sunday morning, displacing a family of three, a Snohomish County Fire District 4 official said.
Fire crews responded to 218 10th St. at 8:15 a.m. to find heavy smoke, Battalion Chief Mike Gatterman said. Crews knocked down flames before entering to make sure no occupants were inside the apartment.
The blaze left one unit in the five-unit complex a total loss, Gatterman said. Estimated damage totaled $150,000 to the structure and $30,000 to its contents.
The local American Red Cross chapter was helping an adult and two children who lived there find clothing and a temporary place to stay.
Surrounding fire districts assisted with the response.
