Fire extinguished at vacant motel in Everett

The fire was reported shortly after 7 p.m. in a room at a vacant motel in the 1100 block of Broadway. Crews were able to extinguish the fire within minutes of arriving on the scene, city spokeswoman Meghan Pembroke said.

A search was conducted and a man was found in an adjacent unit. He was not injured, Pembroke said. He was questioned by Everett police and released. There were no other reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
