MONROE — A small fire was quickly extinguished Friday morning in a vacant commercial building along U.S. 2, Monroe fire officials said.
The fire started after 10 a.m. in the building that used to house Petosa’s Restaurant in the 19100 block of U.S. 2, Monroe fire spokeswoman Audrey Duncan said.
Investigators believe the fire was caused by an electrical short in the building’s neon lighting, she said. The building is scheduled for demolition next month to make room for a new retail center.
No one was injured.
Lynnwood: Suspect sought in robbery
LYNNWOOD — A beauty supply store was robbed Friday, officials said.
An employee in the store told Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies a man walked into her store about 1:30 p.m. in the 14600 block of Highway 99, pulled out a gun and demanded money, sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
The employee gave the man an undisclosed amount of money before he ran off, she said. Deputies believe he may have jumped into a getaway car.
The man is described as possibly Asian, wearing a mask, glasses and dark clothes.
