EVERETT — Fire gutted a four-plex of townhouses in south Everett this morning, destroying a complex that was scorched Monday in an apparent arson that took the life of a woman who lived there.
There were no immediate reports of injury this morning at the homes, which are located on 124th Street SW across from a Snohomish County Fire District 1 station.
The complex was vacated after Monday’s fire, said Leslie Hynes, a spokeswoman for the fire district.
As with Monday’s blaze, firefighters at the neighboring station spotted the flames and jumped into action.
The 6:37 a.m. fire was quickly knocked down, but not before racing through the already damaged structure.
A search inside turned up nobody inside the building, Hynes said. The cause was under investigation by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office.
A woman who lived at the complex died Tuesday from injuries received during Monday’s fire. Witnesses saw the woman run from the complex in a ball of flame.
That fire caused $300,000 damage and was ruled to have been arson.
