PULLMAN — The man suspected of burning down part of a large Pullman apartment complex has told police he was drunk and that a voice in his head told him to start the blaze.
Bryan Kitchen, 31, was arrested Monday in connection with the arson at The Grove apartments earlier this month.
KXLY-TV of Spokane reported that court documents indicate Kitchen told conflicting stories to police officers as he was questioned repeatedly about the fire. He also failed a polygraph test.
Court documents say Kitchen eventually admitted that he intentionally started the fire with his lighter.
Documents say Kitchen told officers he had a voice in his head that told him to do bad things.
Kitchen is in the Whitman County Jail, and may face federal charges in the case.
