GRAND MOUND — A three-acre fire near Grand Mound threatened about 10 homes for a time Tuesday night.
Flames 30 feet high were visible from I-5 and dispatchers received numerous calls about 9 p.m. The fire burned into Wednesday morning in a pile of woody debris from a highway construction project.
KIRO-TV reported the fire may have started in a pile of sawdust and wood chips from spontaneous combustion.
