GOLD BAR — Banjo music, bunker gear and barbecue.
Those are the themes of a new video made by firefighters at Snohomish County Fire District 26 in Gold Bar.
The firefighters entered a firehouse barbecue recipe contest put on by the Tree Top juice company.
They submitted the rec
ipe, “Stop, Drop and BBQ Chicken,” about two months ago, firefighter Rob Thurston said. They were asked to make a video after being chosen as finalists.
Only the top 10 were asked to make a video, firefighter Scott Coulson said.
People can vote on the best firehouse barbecue recipe and video at http://americasbestfirehousebbq.com through July 29. Whoever wins will get $10,000.
If Gold Bar wins, they’ll spend the money on new equipment, Thurston said.
The recipe was a collaboration between Coulson, Thurston and firefighters Nathan Larsen and Matt Gau. The video features a tour of the station, firefighters going about their daily work and a taste test for neighbors.
Fire District 26 is one of the last all-volunteer fire departments in Snohomish County.
