EVERETT — Local firefighters are hosting a fundraiser at tonight’s Everett Silvertips game at Comcast Arena.
They are getting ready for the annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb challenge at the Columbia Center in Seattle on March 11, said Joe Paterniti, a medical services officer with the Everett Fire Department. The stairclimb benefits blood-cancer research and patient services.
At the game, off-duty crews plan to work out in their gear on stairclimb machines on the second deck of the east side of the arena, Paterniti said.
“The Tips have been really cool and supportive of us,” he said.
The firefighters also will share free stickers and informational materials about blood cancer.
“We’re part of the community, we want to connect with the community, and this is one way we get to do that, and we have a lot of fun with it,” Paterniti said.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
