KENT — Firefighters in Kent rescued 13 ducklings that fell into a storm drain.
Kent Fire spokesman Don Barberie says a passer-by stopped at the department’s Easthill fire station Tuesday to report the ducklings’ plight.
Capt. Jim Merritt and firefighters Steve Smith and Brent Flatness headed out on duck duty. Smith and Flatness managed to rescue the ducklings, then put them in a bucket and released them in a pond across the street.
The spokesman says a mother duck that had been flying around watching the rescue then zoomed to the pond to care for the babies.
