Five people accused of a home-invasion robbery that terrorized a Marysville family July 27 were charged Friday in Snohomish County Superior Court.
Three of the suspects are charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree kidnapping and first-degree burglary. They include Christine Lee Iverson, 34, of Marysville, who allegedly recruited others to steal an autographed NASCAR jacket signed by late racing driver Dale Ernhardt.
Iverson’s boyfriend, Charles Lloyd Hiatt, 34, of Marysville, and Mark D. Terrazas, also 34, of Mount Vernon, are charged with the same three crimes.
Two others face first-degree robbery charges. They are Eric Francis Christensen, 37, and Richard James Upchurch, 23, both of Everett.
Deputy prosecutor Erica Temple said Iverson was attempting to retrieve property her ex-husband had left with the victim, including the racing jacket.
At least two intruders forced their way into the victim’s home around midnight, struck the man and a 15-year-old boy on the head and threatened to sexually assault a woman. The man was bound with duct tape and taken away in his own van after the intruders ransacked the home.
The kidnapping was foiled when a State Patrol trooper spotted the van traveling fast with a broken headlight. The officer chased the van, which crashed into a tree. The two assailants ran away.
The victim was found still bound inside the van. The victim’s two shotguns and the intruders’ loaded pistol were also found in the van, Temple said.
At one point, the intruders discussed shooting the pursuing trooper, she said, but no shots were fired. The men were arrested the next day.
