The Everett Yacht Club’s 20th annual Lighted Boat Parade will start at 5 p.m. Saturday
The boats will travel from Everett Marina to Mukilteo and back.
Club members started decorating their boats on Thanksgiving weekend. Some owners took a few hours, while others took two weeks, constructing props with moving parts. The lights include dolphins leading a sleigh, a Grinch in a box, a huge crab with moving claws, a Hawaiian Christmas with music and hula girls, a boat towing Santa in a dinghy, a martini glass, a fire-breathing dragon, angels and snowmen.
Yacht club members also will open their boats to hospice families for the evening so they can experience the event.
Santa arrives around 3:30 p.m. at the Marine View Reception and Conference Center at 404 14th St. The club’s outdoor tree lighting is at 5 p.m. You need not be a member of the club to enter your boat in the parade, but you must register before 4:30 p.m. to be considered for a prize.
Everyone is invited to the awards ceremony. There will be four independent judges. Everett Hospice will make the Peoples Choice Award.
Organizers say the best viewing is at Everett waterfront restaurants, the hillside heading to Mukilteo and the ferry landing area in Mukilteo.
