I received a press release from the city letting me know that the Forest Park Swim Center, Everett’s public pool, would re-open Jan. 18 after the completion of annual maintenance.
What the release didn’t mention is that the pool was supposed to re-open today. Staff were refilling the pool last week when paint started separating from the plaster coating. At no cost, the contractor agreed to restore the plaster and paint again, hence the week delay.
Fortunately, the staff had decided not to start swim lessons until next week anyway. People who paid for aquatic classes scheduled for this week will get a credit to their accounts.
