ARLINGTON — Former mayor, city councilman and business leader Bob Kraski died Thursday morning. He was 75.
Kraski served on the Arlington City Council for about a decade and was appointed mayor in 1990. He was elected for three more terms and stepped down in 2003.
He led the city during the annexation of Smokey Point, the construction of the local Boys & Girls Club, and the formation of the North County Mayors Group, according to a city news release.
He was on boards for Community Transit, Snohomish County Tomorrow and the county’s Department of Emergency Management.
Kraski also volunteered with the King County Fire District 4, Rotary and Chamber of Commerce. He owned Kraski’s Furniture, Carpets and Interiors.
“Bob’s service to the City of Arlington will not be forgotten,” city officials said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.
Memorial service plans have not been announced.
This story has been modified to correctly identify the fire agency where Bob Kraski volunteered.
