COQUILLE, Ore. — A former Coos County deputy district attorney has filed a lawsuit against the county and District Attorney Paul Frasier for wrongful termination and retaliation for whistleblowing.
The World reports that Michael Chartrey is accusing Frasier tried to dissuade him from disclosing information about unlawful activity of another deputy district attorney. He believes his decision to report the complaints factored into his termination.
Frasier would not comment on pending litigation other than to deny the allegations.
Chartrey’s lawsuit seeks $650,000 in damages, $400,000 of which comes from emotional distress and $250,000 in economic losses.
