SEATTLE — A former King County sheriff’s deputy who was sentenced to one year in prison after pleading guilty to promoting prostitution and other charges has been given a longer term after he was found to have lied to the court.
The Seattle Times reported Darrion Keith Holiwell was sentenced Monday to 17 months in prison and ordered to pay $45,000 in restitution to the county. He was also ordered to cover all court expenses, including the cost of his public defender.
At his initial sentencing in August, Holiwell said he had lost everything. The court found him indigent and waived all non-mandatory court fees. King County prosecutors later learned that he cashed in his retirement for more than $180,000.
Prosecutors filed a successful motion to vacate the judgment based on fraud and misrepresentation.
Investigators said Holiwell encouraged his estranged wife, a former stripper, to work as an escort, and that he kept much of her earnings. He was also accused of stealing department ammunition and illegally delivering testosterone. He has pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree theft and one count of violating a drug law.
