SNOHOMISH — Former Snohomish Mayor Steve Dana has announced his candidacy for Snohomish County Council and is inviting the public to meet him Monday.
Last week, Dana declared his intention to challenge incumbent County Councilman Dave Somers in the November election for the District 5 seat. The district includes the cities of Monroe, Snohomish, Sultan, Gold Bar, Index and Lake Stevens.
Dana will run as a Republican against Somers, a Democrat. The incumbent, who holds a master’s degree in forest ecology, is serving his second council term.
Dana’s resume includes eight years on the Snohomish City Council. During that time, his peers chose him to serve as mayor three times. He has also served on the city’s board of adjustment and planning commission, as well as the Snohomish County Tomorrow Steering Committee.
Dana will meet with the public at the HUB, 928 Ave. D in Snohomish, from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday. He and his wife, Noreen, have owned the business for 24 years.
