SEATTLE — A former Swinomish Tribal employee has been charged in federal court with wire fraud and theft of tribal funds.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Seattle says Robert Scott Miller of La Conner, Washington, was the tribe’s Fish and Game Enforcement Officer for 18 years. He was charged last week with nine counts of wire fraud and two counts of theft.
Officials say between 2012 and 2015, Miller used the tribal credit card to buy things that he kept for his own use. The items included a fuel pump and gauge for his boat. They say he also used tribal funds to buy a chain saw, rifle bags and other items.
The total purchases came to about $4,200.
Miller’s lawyer didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
