FORT LEWIS — An Army Ranger from Fort Lewis has been killed in combat in Iraq, and the military says the death may have been the result of friendly fire.
The Defense Department reports that 21-year-old Pfc. Thomas F. Duncan of Rowlett, Texas, died Monday in Sinjar, Iraq.
The U.S. Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, N.C., says the initial indications of a friendly fire fatality are under investigation.
Duncan was an assistant machine gunner assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Lewis.
He leaves his wife, Megan Duncan of Louisa, Ky., and parents, Amanda Duncan of Bedias, Texas, and Thomas F. Duncan II.
