SEATTLE — Seattle police have arrested two Fort Lewis soldiers for investigation of robbery and assault in attacks on three University of Washington students in Seattle.
According to police, detectives arrested the two male soldiers on Tuesday at the base south of Tacoma after an investigation aided by the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division.
Detective Jeff Kappel identified the two as Chad Braden, 19, of Atlanta, and Robert Lucas, 20, of Nashville, Tenn. He said they were active duty soldiers but he did not know their ranks.
The two were booked into King County Jail.
The UW students were assaulted in the early morning hours of Jan. 17 in Seattle’s University District. Two of the students were pistol-whipped and robbed. A third student was threatened with a firearm.
Kappel couldn’t say what led police to the soldiers but added police were not looking for anyone else in the case.
Joe Kubistek, a Fort Lewis spokesman, said the Army was aware of the investigation and cooperating as necessary. He had no other comment.
