Cruzin’ to Colby Show ‘n’ Shine’
The annual car show is turning 20 this year. Saturday’s kickoff party at 8 p.m. will start the event, which runs through Monday in downtown Everett. The cruise downtown start at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The event has generated more than $200,000 for local charities over the years.

Adopt a stream
Learn about the Adopt A Stream Foundation project at 7 p.m. May 30 at the Northwest Stream Center, 600 128th St. SE, Everett.
Attendees will begin outside, where they’ll see how streams work and watch the life that’s in them. That’s followed by a workshop where folks will learn how to collect data and then present it to local leaders.

Coffee with a congressman
U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen invites the community for an informal talk Sunday afternoon at Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington.
The meet-up over coffee gives the congressman from Washington’s 2nd District a chance to hear directly from constituents. It’s set from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the hospital’s Rainier Conference Room. The address is 330 S. Stillaguamish Ave., Arlington.

Talk Time is for adults to practice speaking English in a friendly, supportive setting. Weekly drop-in sessions are from 10 a.m. to noon Fridays, May 24 and 31.

Girls on the Run 5k
The fourth annual Girls on the Run of Snohomish County 5K will take place June 1 at Everett Memorial Stadium at 3900 Broadway, Everett. The non-competitive, untimed run is for all ages. The event starts at 7:30 a.m. with face painting, poster-making, Happy Hair and other activities. The 5K will start at 9 a.m. To register go to www.girlsontherunsnoco.org. To participate costs adults $37.50, kids ages $17.50 and children under 7 $5. Participants get a T-shirt and medal.

The Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum’s Tankfest Northwest will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 3407 109th St. SW, Everett. The event will showcase tanks, military vehicles, remote control tank and firing demonstrations of tanks and artillery. Attendees will be able to participate in a scavenger hunt, face painting, bouncy house and tug-o-war. Free parking and shuttle service will be available at 9819 Airport Road.
