Fireworks annoying you? Don’t call 911

Is your neighbor lighting off bottle rockets even though there’s a ban on fireworks in your town? Is that Fourth of July party getting a little too raucous?

Don’t dial 911 for your noise or illegal fireworks complaints; dial the non-emergency line at 425-407-3999.

The holiday is typically the busiest time of year for Snohomish County 911, and the agency is doing its best to staff appropriately. Executive Director Kurt Mills hopes people will help out by using the emergency line only for real emergencies.

“Help us keep 911 lines open for emergencies,” Mills said. “While it is the same dispatchers processing both non-emergency calls and 911 emergencies, we are able to triage calls more effectively by dealing with true emergencies on 911.”

To help expedite the process, callers should keep answers brief and have the incident location handy.
