HEADS UP
Lunchtime at Mukilteo City Hall
Through Dec. 31, Mukilteo City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way, will remain closed during the lunch hour, noon to 1 p.m. The lunchtime closure is necessitated by staffing limitations caused, in part, by a recent staff vacancy.
Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed noon to 1 p.m.) Monday through Thursday; and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed noon to 1 p.m.) Friday.
Public hours at other city buildings, including Rosehill Community Center and the Mukilteo Police Station, remain unchanged.
Nominate an artist
The City of Everett Cultural Arts Commission invites nominations for the 2019 Mayor’s Arts Awards and the prestigious Richard Wendt Award of Excellence. The awards recognize the accomplishments of artists, arts and cultural organizations, and community members committed to enriching the Everett community through the arts.
This is the 27th year of the Richard Wendt Award of Excellence, a lifetime achievement award given to individuals whose strong support of the arts has been ongoing through philanthropic and volunteer service.
Nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m. Nov. 5. The Cultural Arts Commission will review the nominations and select recipients.
Mayor Cassie Franklin will honor recipients of the 2019 Richard Wendt Award of Excellence and the Mayor’s Arts Awards at the Everett Performing Arts Center on Feb. 13. The event is free and open to the public.

Special needs pumpkin patch
Fred Meyer in Monroe, 18805 Highway 2, will host a pumpkin patch festival for those with special needs and mobility issues from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 19.
Everyone’s invited.
The store sets up its pumpkins in the paved garden center. The idea for the festival started six years ago as a suggestion by the family of Ian Locke, a young man who has cerebral palsy. He loves Halloween and pumpkin patches, but farms can be muddy and hard to navigate by wheelchair.
The festival has since caught on at other Fred Meyer stores.
