Whidbey shows

Pull up your fishnets, starch your gold shorts, and become a creature of the night at the strangest, sexiest films of all time, “Rocky Horror Picture Show,” at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31, Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, 565 Camano Ave., in Langley.

Tickets are $20.“Goodie Bags” will be on sale for $6 in the lobby. Audience members are asked to not bring props from home. A no-host bar opens at 6:30 p.m.

The Atomic Bombshells Burlesque Dance Spectacular, Seattle’s burlesque troupe, seamlessly integrates the worlds of burlesque, drag, dance, and theater at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1. Tickets are $25. Must be 18.

Book sale

The Friends of the Arlington Library book sale will offer books and pre-holiday items available at bargain prices. Something for everyone. Proceeds support the Arlington Library.

The sale is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 12 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Arlington Library, 135 N. Washington Ave.

Pruning fruit trees

The Snohomish County Fruit Society is hosting a presentation on “Pruning Your Fruit Tree” at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Snohomish Boys & Girls Club, 402 Second St., Snohomish. Ingela Wanerstrand, owner of Green Darner Garden Design in Seattle, will give tips on pruning fruit trees. She has 25 years of experience pruning fruit trees and teaches fruit growing classes at Edmonds Community College.

Marine committee needs you

Snohomish County is seeking up to four new advisors motivated and eager to learn about marine conservation, science-based research and policy issues as a part of the Marine Resources Committee.

Those selected to serve on the MRC will help recommend actions to the county executive and the County Council during a three-year term running 2020 through 2022, with the possibility of two additional terms.

Volunteers must apply and go through a selection process. Appointed committee members will help shape local and regional marine conservation policy. The MRC meetings are held in Everett on the third Wednesday of every month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Members also are expected to volunteer at least 10 hours per month for project planning and implementation. The deadline for applications is Nov. 18 or until filled.

The Marine Resources Committee has 12 members who represent a balance of scientists, local and tribal governments’ staff and recreational, economic, and environmental interests. There are seven MRCs in the Northwest Straits region of the Puget Sound.
