Forest Park playground to close temporarily
The playground at Forest Park is set to get some upgrades.
It closes Monday and is expected to open again by summer .
The play equipment will be replaced with a structure designed to include slides, plenty of climbing spaces and wheelchair access. Wood chips on the floor will be swapped for ADA-compliant surfaces.
Construction is to be fenced off for the safety of those visiting other parts of the park. All other areas will remain open.

Young artists display work
Work from young artists in Snohomish County is on display at Schack Art Center’s Emerging Young Artists’ Gallery until Feb. 23. The pieces are for the Regional Scholastic Art Awards.
The Schack Art Center is at 2921 Hoyt Ave., Everett. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.

Ranger-led snowshoe walks
Join rangers in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest for a snowshoe walk before the season ends March 29. Tours are available at Snoqualmie Pass, Stevens Pass, the Big Four Picnic Area and in the Mt. Baker/Glacier area.
No experience is necessary, and the Forest Service provides snowshoes and poles. Attendees should dress for the weather in layered and insulated clothing, hats and gloves, with sturdy waterproof boots. These events are free but donations are encouraged.

State of Marysville
Mayor John Nehring is set to present the Marysville State of the City address, 6:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Marysville Opera House, 1225 Third St. Doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
Nehring will cover accomplishments in 2019 and what’s ahead for the next year. The address will be filmed and available in March online and on local TV stations.
MEETINGS
Lighthouse quilters
The Mukilteo Lighthouse Quilters plan to meet from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave., Mukilteo.
Guest speaker Ted Hoffman is CEO of two Seattle-based companies: Clothworks and American Made Brand. He plans to talk about fabric manufacture and sale.

Sew for girls
The Snohomish County Clothing and Textile Advisors group plans to meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 21, at the Cedar Valley Grange, 20526 52nd Ave. W, Lynnwood.
The group will sew menstrual products for Days for Girls, an international nonprofit with local chapters.
Bring a sewing machine or serger, regular sewing equipment and a few basic colors of dark construction thread. Kits and instruction will be provided. Attendees may want to pack a lunch.
