Register Monday
Monday is the last day to register to vote online or by mail or to transfer an existing registration to a new address for the Aug. 17 primary election. Folks who have never registered to vote in Washington may do so through Aug. 9 and must register in-person at the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
In order to register to vote in our state, a person must:
Be a citizen of the United States;
Have lived in Washington for at least 30 days;
Be at least 18 years old by Election Day;
Not be currently be in the custody of the Department of Corrections or other criminal justice system due to a felony conviction.
Those with a state-issued driver’s license or ID may register to vote online at www.vote.wa.gov. Mail-in voter registration forms can be found online, too.
Voter registration forms are also available at local libraries, post offices, and at the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office. Mail-in forms must be post-marked by today.
Food goes chugga chugga: The Lake Stevens Railroad food train collects donations for the Lake Stevens Food Bank at the Lake Stevens farmers market. Those who visit the market on Thursdays can bring a can of food to load on the train and watch it travel around the track. Cash donations are also accepted.
The farmers market is open from 5 p.m. until sunset at North Cove Park, 1803 Main St., Lake Stevens.
