Cyclists ride for hope
You may see two dozen bicycle riders on U.S. 2 on Wednesday, heading to Skykomish, as part of a Journey of Hope.
It’s a nine-week, 4,000-mile cycling event across America to raise money and awareness about disabilities.
The team will arrive in Skykomish about 5 p.m. Buca Di Beppo will provide dinner at the Skykomish Community Church. They leave for Wenatchee on Thursday morning.
Journey of Hope is a program of Push America by Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. The Trans America team, one of three Journey of Hope groups, will cycle about 75 miles each day, ending in Washington, D.C., Aug. 14.
Along the way, they plan visits with people with disabilities.

Bugs and Bark: Join Washington State University Snohomish County Extension’s Natural Resources Team as it hosts its third annual Natural Resource Field Day at McCollum Park.
Find a range of activities including bug catching, identifying, taking forest measurements, arts and crafts and energy-saving activities.
It’s planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 6 at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE in Everett.
Join Camp Fire reunion: Camp Fire USA Snohomish County Council is looking for alumni including club members, leaders and former campers.
Camp Fire USA National is celebrating its 100th year and will offer a campfire lighting ceremony from 3 to 9 p.m. July 31 at Camp Killoqua in Stanwood. It’s part of a nationwide celebration.
