Center will be closed
Everett’s Carl Gipson Senior Center will be closed for remodeling from Tuesday through June 6. The center is at 3025 Lombard Ave. in Everett.
High school poster contest: The Assistance League of Everett is holding a contest for students in the ninth through 12th grades to create a poster for the annual dinner and auction.
Students who are enrolled in the Arlington, Darrington, Everett, Granite Falls, Lake Stevens, Lakewood, Marysville, Monroe, Mukilteo, Skykomish, Snohomish, Stanwood and Camano, or Sultan school districts may enter the contest.
The winner will be announced May 19 and receive a $50 first place prize. A second place prize of $25 and a third place prize of $15 will also be awarded. The winning poster will be featured in the artwork associated with the 2010 Dinner and Auction on Oct. 23.
The deadline for contest submissions is Saturday. Mail entries to Assistance League, Attn: Gwen Duffy, at P.O. Box 3825, Everett, 98213.

Teacher’s story to be told: The life story of a woman who taught at Rosehill School in the 1920s is the subject of the Mukilteo Historical Society’s meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Rosehill Community Center’s Art Room, 304 Lincoln Ave.
Betty and Lou Morrow’s talk, “Mary Lou Morrow Remembered,” is free and open to the public.
