Coal and oil trains panel
A public panel discussion of the increasing presence of coal and oil trains is scheduled for Friday from 10 a.m. to noon in the Snohomish County Administration East building at Pacific and Oakes avenues in Everett.
Topics will include safety, traffic, and economic and environmental impacts. Panelists are to include Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling and representatives from Climate Solutions, the Sightline Institute, the Puget Sound Regional Council, BNSF Railway and SSA Marine.
Board Bash: Mill Creek Parks and Recreation has scheduled the 7th annual Board Bash skateboard competition for noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Mill Creek Sports Park, 13903 North Creek Dr. The competition is to feature best tricks and multiple heats.
Registration starts at 11 a.m. There are divisions for riders ages 6 and up.
