Mill Creek YMCA
A grand opening party is planned today for the Mill Creek Family YMCA, a branch of the YMCA of Snohomish County.
It’s 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 13723 Puget Park Drive in Everett.
Take a tour, slide in the pool, enjoy a healthy snack.
Everything is free and a YMCA membership is not required. There are several prizes and giveaways, including 50 Y-Bucks and a free week of summer camp.
The new facility encompasses 42,000 square feet, including a lobby with a fireplace; a multipurpose room; a kids’ Adventure Zone; and an Aquatics Center complete with pool, slide, locker rooms and hot tub.
Get bat answers: A Bats Northwest Daylight Savings Day Event is planned for 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Willow Creek Hatchery, 95 Pine St. in Edmonds.
Join the Edmonds Backyard Wildlife Habitat Project at the new Edmonds Wildlife Habitat &Native Plant Garden.
Here is the lineup:
3 p.m., meet Bats Northwest at the group’s information tent, ask bat questions, get bat answers, eat batty snacks.
3:20 p.m. to 4:20 p.m., go inside the Willow Creek Hatchery’s Education building for a bat presentation.
4:20 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., group experiment with bat echo-locators at the hatchery and around Willow Creek.
4:45 to 5 p.m., installation of the Garden’s Bat House, a group effort.
All ages are welcome at the free events.
