‘Perform-a-thon’
In August 2009, the Mukilteo City Council approved the sale of bonds for construction of a new $12.8 million Rosehill Community Center, which meant demolition of the 82-year-old building.
That council action caused a cascade of reactions, including the fact that the nonprofit community school of the arts known as the Gene Nastri School, which has operated at Rosehill for the past 15 years, has to look for a new home.
To try to help cover the costs for a new home, the Gene Nastri School is putting on its first “Perform-a-thon” to help raise money.
Gene Nastri students collect pledges from sponsors, then the student puts on a particular performance.
“Perform-a-thon” will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at The Tin Fish Restaurant, 204 Lincoln Ave., Mukilteo. There is no cover charge. For more information call 425-290-9500 or e-mail info@genenastrischool.org.
