Stories and songs of the American West
Whidbey Reads 2010 offers a program called “Cowboys and Cowgirls in Story and Song.”
It’s planned for 3 p.m. Thursday at Oak Harbor Library, 1000 SE Regatta Drive in Oak Harbor.
Legends and lore of the American West will be told in stories and songs by Bruce and Susan Matley, also known at Nevada Slim and Cimarron Sue.
The program is for kids and adults.
Family Night at EvCC: Learn about financial aid and do college planning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Everett Community College, 2000 Tower St. in Everett.
Bring the family to learn about getting started, applying for financial aid, choosing what to study and more.
Family Night is in EvCC’s Parks Student Union, Parks Central. The evening will also include information about Running Start, career decision making, university transfer options and EvCC programs.
Parking on campus is free.

Learn about the potential of tidal energy: Washington State University Extension Snohomish County Beach Watchers will give a free presentation on tidal energy and renewable resources at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave., Mukilteo.
The WSU Snohomish County Extension Beach Watchers will offer another free presentation, “Puget Sound Starts Here,” on April 14.
