Host families needed
Everett Community College seeks host families for international students who arrive in early September.
Hosts are asked to provide room, board and transportation to visiting students. Families do not need to speak a second language, as visiting students will want to practice their English skills. A monthly stipend of $600 is provided to host families to defray expenses.
Students will be on campus for class during weekdays and will stay with their host families at night and on the weekends.

Donate today to food banks: McKesson Healthcare in Everett will collect food bank donations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.
They will be posted at Albertson’s, 520 128th St. SW, Everett, and at Albertson’s, 11401 State Ave., Marysville.
Summer reading party in Stanwood: Stanwood Library’s Summer Reading Extravaganza-Palooza happens today.
Bring a picnic lunch at 11 a.m. to Heritage Park, 9800 276th St. NW. There will be games and treats. Bring a T-shirt to paint.
Festival Sunday in Arlington: The 2009 Stillaguamish Festival of the River begins at 10 a.m. Sunday at River Meadows County Park, 20416 Jordan Road, Arlington.
