Highway 20 closures
Portions of Highway 20 will close to drivers Sunday as runners compete in the annual Whidbey Island Marathon and half-marathon.
Closures will include the following:
7:30 to 8 a.m.: Rosario Road to Cornet Bay Road, including the Deception Pass bridges;
8 to 8:20 a.m.: Highway 20 at Whidbey Avenue intersection, full closure;
8:20 to 9 a.m.: Highway 20 at Whidbey Avenue intermittent closures.
Starting at 8 a.m., drivers should be alert for runners in and around Oak Harbor and the north portion of Whidbey Island.
Register for spring quarter classes at Everett Community College. Classes are offered during the day or evening. There are also classes available online or at off-campus locations such as Arlington. For more information, call 425 388-9291.
Take a teen driver to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Driving it Home program. The collision awareness seminar is 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Stanwood High School, 7400 272nd St. NW in Stanwood.
Investigators will discuss several local crashes and stage a car-and-pedestrian accident scene. The event is free and no registration is required.
Collision investigators also are looking for family members of fatal crash victims who would be willing to share their stories at future Driving it Home programs. Call detective Doug Gold at 425-388-5437.
