Miss Latina sought

Northwest Latinos Unidos seeks applicants for Miss Latina 2009.

Qualifications:

  • 17 to 21 years of age
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Resident of Snohomish County
  • Has an interest in Hispanic community activities

    Please submit a letter of interest and a recent photograph, if available, to Northwest Latinos Unidos, 118 W. Main St., Monroe, WA 98272.

    There will be four young women selected, who will participate in a variety of events, culminating in the crowning of a queen who will participate in the Monroe Fair Days Parade in late August.

    Letters must be received by March 21.

    A pre-Lenten celebration is planned for 5 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran College, 2802 Wetmore Ave. in Everett. Members of the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce will speak, as well as Trinity Lutheran College President John Stamm and academic dean Jeff Mallinson.

    The college choir will perform “Bonsa Abba” from a 2008 Advent Concert series.

    The Mark Wicken Memorial Fund is offering cash prizes for the best snow sculpture in Darrington.

    Those who want to participate are asked to take a photo of their sculptures and list the location of the artwork. The first place win is worth $100, second is $75 and third is $50.

    The submission deadline is Saturday. For more information call Darrington Town Hall at 360-436-1131.
