Forget-Me-Not: Volunteers with Disabled American Veterans Snohomish County Chapter 13 will accept donations to help local disabled veterans from 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday at QFC, 11700 Mukilteo Speedway, Mukilteo. The blue silk flowers are sold as part of DAV Forget-Me-Not Day.
Food drive: The Snohomish 89ers Red youth football team holds a food drive from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at the Snohomish Fred Meyer, 2801 Bickford Ave., to benefit the Volunteers of America Sultan backpack program.
Naturalization and genealogy: Eric Strohschein will discuss how to find naturalization records from as far back as the colonial times at the next meeting of the Genealogical Society of South Whidbey Island, 12:45 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 18341 Highway 525, Freeland.
Strohschein owns, with his wife, Karen, Generations Detective, a genealogical research firm. He’s also a 26-year veteran of the Seattle Fire Department.
Transferring land and wealth to heirs and voting were privileges requiring naturalization or citizenship. Strohschein will share methods for tracking down naturalization records from three basic eras: colonial times, 1790-1906, and 1906 to present.
