Meet the council: The Lynn-wood City Council plans a public outreach event at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cedar Valley Community School cafeteria. People are asked to bring comments on “what a safe and welcoming city looks like to them.” The event is billed as a meet-and-greet with elected leaders, some of whom are up for re-election this year.
Spring planting: The annual volunteer effort to plant hundreds of flower and plants in downtown Everett is set to kick off from 8:30-10 a.m. May 19 on the corner of Hewitt and Colby avenues. Gloves, trowels and commemorative buttons are provided. All ages are welcome.
Fire talks ongoing: Marysville and Arlington continue to explore the idea of merging their fire departments. They are talking about creating a regional fire authority, similar to what exists in Stanwood and what is being considered in Lynnwood. A fire authority requires a public vote before it can start operations. That could happen in Marysville by 2019, officials said. The next merger meeting is May 25.
