Toiletry drive
The YWCA is collecting donations of personal hygiene supplies in preparation for this year’s Project Homeless Connect. Needed are full-size bottles of body wash, 2-in-1 shampoo, lotion, deodorant, toothpaste, washcloths and razors for shaving. All about orcas: Orca Network’s second annual “Orcas In Our Midst” workshop is set for 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 10 at the Whidbey Children’s Theater, 723 Camano Ave., in Langley, on Whidbey Island. The workshop focuses on the endangered southern resident orcas and the salmon they feed on. The day will feature presentations by the region’s top experts and advocates. Safe and fun: Lake Stevens’ annual Health and Safety Fair is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 10 at the Market Place parking lot. Police and firefighters will participate. The free event features more than 40 booths and family-friendly activities, including tours of the police boat.
