Memorial Day
Mill Creek plans to hold a commemoration ceremony in honor of Memorial Day at 6 p.m. Friday at the Veterans Monument at Library Park, 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway. There will be remarks, a prayer, a performance of the national anthem by the Mill Creek Chorale, and an opportunity to lay carnations at the monument. More info: 425-921-5732
Holiday bus schedules: Community Transit will run buses within Snohomish County on a Sunday service schedule on Monday. Everett Transit also will follow a Sunday schedule.
Commuter routes to downtown Seattle and the University of Washington will not run. Sound Transit Route 512 from Everett to Seattle will be on a Sunday schedule.
Poppies: Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 9417 holds its annual Buddy Poppy campaign, selling the silk flowers to benefit disabled veterans from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Gold Bar Family Grocer. Post 9417 will be at the Fred Meyer store in Monroe and at the QFC in Bothell on Friday and Saturday. Sultan Post 2554 will be at the Red Apple in Sultan, Friday through Sunday. The Lake Stevens American Legion Post 181 will be at various local businesses Saturday.
