The Arlington Fly-In is coming up

The Arlington Fly-In is set for July 7-9 on the west side of the Arlington Airport, with entry off 188th Street NE. Discount tickets can be purchased online, then printed at home or displayed on a smartphone to be scanned for entry at the gates. Admission ranges from $10 to $45 depending on length of stay and mode of arrival.

There will be airshows, airplane rides, live entertainment and outdoor movies on the runway. The Grumman F8F Bearcat from the Historic Flight Foundation is among the visiting aircraft.

Kid’s Day runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 6 and is limited this year to the military history area. There will be simulators, balloon planes and candy-airplane making.

Professional storytellers Bob Kanegis and Liz Mangual show you how to create your own “Legacy Story” at a workshop set for 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 8 at the Stanwood Library, 9701 271st St. NW. Hosted by the Stanwood Camano Community Resource Center.

Charity golf tournament

The Work Force Development Center is holding a charity golf tournament July 21 at the Nile Golf Course in Mountlake Terrace. The event includes a $50,000 hole-in-one contest, and local sports figures plan to participate.

Cost is $125 per golfer before July 7, $150 after.

WFDC helps young people facing challenges in life complete high school and become self-sufficient.

YWCA taking sign-ups for support groups

The YWCA is offering upcoming support groups:

“Managing Difficult Emotions,” 5:30-7 p.m. Mondays, July 10 to Aug. 28; and

“Grief and Loss,” 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesdays, July 11 to Aug. 29.

Both groups meet at the Verdant Community Wellness Center, 4710 196th St. SW, Lynnwood.

These are not drop-in groups; registration is required.

DSHS comes to Maltby

The state Department of Social and Health Services plans to send its mobile community services office to Maltby on July 6. Staff will be available from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Maltby Food Bank, 21104 86th Ave. SE, Snohomish.

DSHS staff can help with applications for cash, basic food and medical assistance programs. Program participants can drop off paperwork, complete reviews, or make changes to existing cases.
