Marysville’s dog party

Poochapalooza, an annual outdoor dog event, is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Asbery Field at Fourth Street and Alder Avenue in Marysville. There will be a “Fashions and Rescues” runway show, an agility course, a dog dancing demonstration, weiner dog races, pet vendors and rescue booths.

Admission is a $5 suggested donation, which would include a goody bag to the first 400 people. Donations support event sponsor Marysville Dog Owners Group, which maintains the off-leash park.

Mill Creek’s got pianos for the public, too

Mill Creek’s newest art installation, Pianos on Main, invites people to play on three pianos while visiting Mill Creek Town Center. The pianos were donated by city residents and refurbished with the help of Henry M. Jackson High School students. The pianos will be installed Saturday and will remain on the street through Aug. 10.

Carnivorous terrarium

Youth ages 10-18 are invited to make a carnivorous terrarium with a sundew plant that eats bugs, 2 to 3:30 p.m. July 11 at the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. Registration is required.

Mark storm drains

WSU Snohomish County Extension’s Beach Watchers program seeks volunteers to help place medallions by storm drains in Mukilteo. The medallions read “No Dumping. Drains to Sound.” Volunteer events are set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 15 and July 29; meet at Mukilteo City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way. Volunteers must RSVP to participate. Or, reserve a storm drain marking kit and do it on your own time.

Check cars for leaks

Help the Beach Watchers test cars for leaks at the racetrack at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe. Volunteers will help by placing drip sheets under cars to record leaks and more. Ages 13 (with an adult) and up are welcome. RSVP in advance.

The Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation offers scholarships for adults. Applications are due by 4 p.m. July 14. There are scholarships for caregivers, artists, nurses in training, parents re-entering the workforce, and those working in veterinary or fire sciences.
