Fun at the Arboretum
A Family Fun event is set for 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Evergreen Arboretum, located at Legion Memorial Park, 145 Alverson Blvd., Everett.
Play with some bugs with Master Gardeners of Snohomish County, take a printmaking class courtesy of Schack Art Center, enjoy a nature project with Imagine Children’s Museum, learn dances from Baile Folklore and lots more. Arboretum volunteers will serve water and popcorn. A scavenger hunt includes a 4-inch fern prize.

Take a walk on wild edible side
Join a Wild Edible Plant Walk to learn about native plants and their uses for food and medicine, 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday near the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. Meet in the large meeting room off the lobby. Alderleaf Wilderness College leads the program and offers tips for sustainable harvesting.
The event takes place rain or shine.

SnoHomo Pride is Sunday
Snohomish County’s first-ever LGBTQ pride event, SnoHomo Pride, is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Legion Memorial Park, 145 Alverson Blvd., Everett. The festival will include music, drag troupes and other entertainment, information, face and body painting, food and more. A family-friendly event, it’s free and open to all.

OPPORTUNITY
Learn about Everett
Everett residents are invited to participate in Everett Essentials, the city’s first-ever civic academy. Classes run Monday evenings, Sept. 25 to Nov. 13, with two Saturday field trips and will focus on city history, operations and services.
Cost is $50, and financial assistance is available. Application is required by Aug. 15. Class sizes are limited.

Volunteer Services, a program of Catholic Community Services, seeks volunteers to assist with household chores, yard care, transportation and other tasks that enable elders, veterans and adults with disabilities to remain independent in their own homes. Volunteers typically serve two to eight hours per month.
