Arlington Farm to Table Dinner

The Arlington Smokey Point Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Arlington Farm to Table Dinner benefit Sept. 9 at Foster Farms.

The four-course meal will be prepared by local chefs using ingredients sourced in Arlington and the surrounding area. The Harvey Creek Band performs.

A portion of the proceeds will help the Arlington Farmer’s Market develop its SNAP initiative, which helps low-income families make purchases.

Tickets are $100. Seating is limited.

3-part series on helping aging parents

The Mariner Library hosts a three-part “Adults with Aging Parents” series in partnership with Brookdale Senior Living, noon Tuesdays, Sept. 12-26.

Topics include knowing when to step in to help, how to talk about difficult and private topics and getting Medicaid support.

A light lunch and coffee is provided.

Registration is required; space is limited.

Congressman Larsen’s staff in Stanwood

Constituents can meet one-on-one Tuesday with staff from the office of U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen, the Democrat who represents Washington’s 2nd Congressional District. It’s set for 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Stanwood Library, 9701 271st Street NW.

The mobile office hours provide a chance to address issues involving the federal government, including Social Security benefits, veterans disability claims and tax refunds, retirement benefits, immigration issues and more.

You also can call and schedule a meeting in one of Larsen’s district offices.

Help revamp Mill Creek website

Mill Creek invites residents to join a focus group to provide input on a redesigned city website that’s scheduled to launch later this year.

The first focus group meeting is set for 4 p.m. Sept. 19 at City Hall Council Chambers on 15728 Main St.

The new website is intended to be easier to use and to access from a mobile phone.

The Snohomish County PUD offer runs through the end of the year.

Qualifying thermostats use sensors that can tell when you’re away or programmed to read local weather reports in order to make energy-saving temperature changes automatically.
