Day of Service in Mountlake Terrace
A local National Day of Service work party is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Mountlake Terrace. Volunteers should meet at the city’s Recreation Pavilion parking lot, 5303 228th St. SW, in comfortable work clothes, with gardening gloves and tools in hand to get their assignment.
The Day of Service is in remembrance of of the Sept. 11, 2011, terrorist attacks.
Groups of volunteers should register in advance with Parks and Facilities Superintendent Ken Courtmanch at 425-776-1811.

Run With Heart in Mill Creek
Mill Creek, Columbia Athletic Club and Community Transit host Run With Heart, which starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett.
The family event features a 5K and 8K run or walk routes, along with a kids 1K and toddler dash. Day-of registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 8:30 and registration ranges from $10 to $45.
Run With Heart supports two Mill Creek community nonprofits: Colton’s Army and the IronHeart Foundation.

Help offer a Day of Hope
A Day of Hope opens at 10 a.m. Saturday at Arlington Municipal Airport, 17208 51st Ave. NE. Convoy of Hope and its local partners will provide free groceries, health services, haircuts, family portraits, job services, veteran services, a kids zone, a hot meal and more. No ID will be required to participate. Volunteers are welcome.

Tax aides wanted
AARP Tax-Aide, a free, volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service, seeks volunteers for tax counseling positions. Volunteers help people file tax returns electronically Feb. 1-April 15. Training is in December and January.
