Train goes to Puyallup fair
Sound Transit will operate special Sounder train service to the Washington State Fair in Puyallup on Saturday and Sept. 23. Service will stop at nine stations, including Everett, Mukilteo and Edmonds. At Puyallup, a free Pierce Transit shuttle will then take passengers to the fair.
Special deals are available for both train and fair tickets.

Event focused on women veterans
The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs’ Women Veterans Advisory Committee holds a Women Veterans Summit, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th St. SW.
Topics include career development, suicide awareness, and veterans benefits and resources.
The event is free, and registration is available at the door.

Everett candidate night is Monday
Everett neighborhood groups and the Friends of the Everett Public Library plan a candidate forum, this time for City Council and Everett School District candidates, at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Middle School, 7621 Beverly Lane. Growth and transportation forum
Leaders from Snohomish County, tribal government and local cities plan to gather Sept. 27 for a forum about managing growth and transportation.
The free event is scheduled to start at 6:10 p.m. at the public meeting room on the first floor of Snohomish County’s Robert Drewel Building, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett. Two groups, Snohomish County Tomorrow and Snohomish County Cities, are co-sponsors.
Scheduled speakers include: Sound Transit CEO Peter Rogoff, who formerly served as a top-level policy official in the U.S. Department of Transportation; Joe Tovar, a project manager at the William D. Ruckelshaus Center who teaches planning at the University of Washington and WSU and used to work as Shoreline’s city manager; and Josh Brown, the executive director of the Puget Sound Regional Council who previously served as a Kitsap County commissioner.
