Walk, run for charities
A charity “Life &Hope 5k” event is planned for 9 a.m. Sept. 13 at Arlington’s Haller Park.
The event is organized by Hope Unlimited, a Stanwood-area nonprofit, and Life House Ministries, an Arlington nonprofit.
Folks are asked to register by Aug. 13. Cost is $30 before that date, and $40 after.
Hope Unlimited provides chaplain services to emergency incidents in north Snohomish County and Camano Island, and offers life-skills classes for single-parent families.
Life House Ministries serves pregnant women and girls and single mothers who need help building better lives.

School supplies needed: The Lake Stevens Family Center’s Back to School Resource Fair is set for 10 a.m. Aug. 23 at the Lake Stevens Boys &Girls Club. Donations of backpacks and binders are needed.
