Talk with lawmakers

Democrats from the state’s 1st Legislative District, including Rep. Derek Stanford, D-Bothell, and Sen. Guy Palumbo, D-Maltby, plan a Telephone Town Hall, 6 p.m. Thursday.

Hog vs. Frog

The annual GroundFrog Day Celebration is set for Saturday with the main events running from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the Gazebo, 21 Ave. A in downtown Snohomish. Snohomish Slew will toadally out-predict his groundhog rival Punxsutawney Phil.

There also will be frog tossing, frog kissing, frog treats and frog frolicking, nearly all of it free. A $5 donation is requested to race a frog at the Snohomish Aquatic Center at 2 p.m. to benefit the Swim for Life program.

Medieval Faire time

The Ursulmas Medieval Faire runs Saturday and Sunday at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe. Step into a day of arts, activities and demonstrations from the Middle Ages. Children are free. Regular adult admission is $25, $30 for the weekend, cash or check.

After the fire

Everett Office Furniture plans to hold a grand opening and ribbon cutting at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at its new store at 9121 Evergreen Way, Everett. The previous location for the store at 2931 Broadway burned down in a fire last September. The event Thursday is a celebration and a thank you for support from the community.

Climbing ranger talk

Climbing ranger and EMT Bree Loewen talks about her new book “Found: A Life in Mountain Rescue” in a free program at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. Loewen’s book shares the drama and the camaraderie of mountain rescue, as well as the challenges of balancing her other roles as wife and mother.

Ballroom dancing

The Kamiak High School orchestra holds its annual Knight in Vienna Ball from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the commons on the campus at 10801 Harbour Pointe Blvd., Mukilteo. The family event includes ballroom dancing accompanied by the orchestra and lessons by Oly’s Dance Studio.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens; available online or at the door. Raffles and concessions will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the music program.

H’Arts for the arts

Schack Art Center’s H’Arts auction fundraiser is set for Feb. 24 at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center in downtown Everett. Tickets are $110 and increase by $15 after Feb. 16. A preview of auction items is set for Feb. 8 in the studios at 2921 Hoyt Ave.
