Book sale in Arlington

The next Friends of the Arlington Library book sale is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Arlington Library is at 135 N Washington Ave. This month’s theme is gardening.

Run supports ministry

Arlington Runners Club presents the ShamRock and Roll 5k and 10k on March 17, with a 21-and-over post-run celebration at Skookum Brewery. Day-of registration is at the Arlington Boys and Girls Club, 18513 59th Ave. NE. Cost is $40, free for kids ages 11 and younger with paying adult. Proceeds benefit Eagle Wings DisAbility Ministries.

Whitehorse, Centennial and other trails

A public meeting scheduled Thursday aims to provide updates on Whitehorse Trail as well as plans to extend the Centennial Trail south and east from Snohomish. Also up for discussion are proposed trails from Monroe south to King County’s Snoqualmie Trail, North Creek Trail and others. Snohomish County’s Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department is hosting the meeting, along with the Trail Coalition of Snohomish County, at Willis Tucker Community Park, 6705 Puget Park Drive. It’s scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Anti-poverty effort

Learn more about Making Life Work, a project of multiple Stanwood and Camano Island groups that aims to empower low-income families, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Stanwood Community and Senior Center, 7430 276th St NW, Stanwood. The project received a $210,000 grant from United Way of Snohomish County.
