Powwow this weekend
Edmonds Community College’s Native American Student Association hosts its annual powwow, “Weaving the World We Want,” Saturday and Sunday. The powwow brings together students, families and communities to celebrate American Indian singing, drumming, dancing and arts and crafts.
This event is free and open to the public. Dance and drum grand entries start at 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday in Seaview Gymnasium, 20000 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood.

Learn about rocks, gems
The Everett Rock and Gem Club’s annual Gem, Jewelry and Mineral Show runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Everett Community College Walt Price Student Fitness Center, 2206 Tower St. Admission and parking are free. The event includes kids activities and hourly door prizes, along with booths, demonstrations and more.

Beware the hangry bear
Spring is an active time for human hikers as well as bears waking up from hibernation and looking for food. Learn how to “PlaySmart” in bear country at a free program with Defenders of Wildlife, 2 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. The program is co-sponsored by the Mountaineers.

Teens: Try a 3-D printing pen
Youth in fifth grade through high school are invited to try out a handheld 3-D printing pen, 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Arlington Library, 135 N Washington Ave. Registration is required to guarantee participation.

AMVETS reaches out
Mill Creek AMVETS Post 2018 seeks Gold Star families in the area. The group also has veterans available to speak at local assemblies and events.
The next monthly meeting is 6 p.m. Monday upstairs at Mill Creek City Hall North, 15720 Main St. Membership is open to any honorably discharged veteran of any era, as well as active duty, Reserve and Guard duty personnel.

YWCA Pathways for Women shelter in Lynnwood is in need of pots and pans, silverware, laundry baskets, brooms and mops, baking dishes, laundry detergent, all-purpose cleaner, deodorant and body lotion (full size). Donations can be taken to the shelter at 6027 208th St. SW in Lynnwood.
