Everett Massacre film
Everett Community College is hosting a screening of the documentary film “Verona: The Story of the Everett Massacre” followed by a Q-and-A with filmmaker Denise Ohio at 2 p.m. Tuesday at EvCC’s Baker Hall, room 120. The campus is at 2000 Tower St. Free. No reservations are required.

Cat classes coming up
The Community Cat Coalition offers two free classes Saturday at the Snohomish Library, 311 Maple Ave. Learn how the group helps neighborhood cats at an orientation set for 1:45 p.m. The group’s “Basic TNR: Trap, Neuter, Return” class follows, from 3 to 5 p.m., where participants can learn the basics of trapping.

A stroll in the trees for Mom
Celebrate Mother’s Day with a guided walking tour of Snohomish trees through the city’s Historic District.
Green Snohomish recently updated the popular “Trees of Snohomish Walking Guide.” Two tours start promptly at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday from Looking Glass Coffee Shop, 801 First St. There is no charge, but donations will be accepted to offset brochure printing costs.

Holocaust talk
Everett Community College’s “Surviving the Holocaust” speaker series continues Wednesday with Ron Friedman, son of survivor Herbert Friedman, who will speak about his father’s escape from Nazi-controlled Vienna at age 13 as part of the Kindertransport to England. The talk is at 12:20 p.m. in Baker Hall 120 on the campus at 2000 Tower St., Everett. No reservations are required.

WAYS TO HELP
Help plant school garden
College Place Elementary School recently received a $2,000 grant from Whole Foods. The school is working with the Edmonds School Garden Advocate Association and Farmer Frog to build garden space.
Volunteers are welcome to help build garden boxes, lay cardboard and compost, and plant trees any time during a work party, scheduled for 1 to 6 p.m. Friday. The school is at 20401 76th Ave. W, Lynnwood.

Anti-trafficking walk
World Concern’s annual S.O.S. 5K s set for Saturday in Shoreline. The event raises money to help the nonprofit address human trafficking, including a hotline, education, and job programs. S.O.S. stands for “seek out and stop trafficking.”
